Get Started with Jumuiya

Jumuiya’s mission is to relentlessly knock down all barriers to students’ academic success. Our innovative model aligns an excellent education with the necessary family supports to make sure each child succeeds.

We bring together a strong academic program, culturally sustaining practices, and the necessary public systems to help children and families achieve their dreams. We believe this holistic, coordinated approach can close the achievement gap and break the cycle of poverty, ensuring that children and families living in underserved communities receive the support they need to leverage their knowledge, culture, and identity to disrupt systems of oppression.

We are more than a school. We have built rich community partnerships with more than 30 organizations to expand and deepen programs that lift families and children. In addition, initiatives like the South Ward Promise Neighborhood offer free programs and services to all children in our neighborhood for support at every stage of development from prenatal to college and career.

International Jumuiya Talk

International Jumuiya Talk is a transformative initiative meticulously crafted to bridge the gap between real-life experiences and young aspirations. With a profound understanding of the hurdles life can present, this program brings forth remarkable individuals who have not only overcome challenges but have thrived amidst adversity. These speakers, who embody resilience and perseverance, share their authentic stories of triumph to illuminate the path towards success for our students. Through their narratives, students are offered a unique opportunity to connect with role models who understand their journey, inspiring them to unlock their potential, embrace their passions, and chart their own course towards a brighter future. International Jumuiya Talk serves as a beacon of hope, a source of motivation, and a catalyst for growth, empowering our students to step confidently into their own stories of achievement.

International Jumuiya Talk

International Jumuiya Talk is designed to bring inspiring individuals who have faced challenges and gained valuable experiences in their lives to speak to the students and empower them, helping them find the path to success. Haley Taylor Schlitz made history in May of 2022 by becoming the youngest Black American ever to graduate from law school in the United States.
